Origin: North America

First finding in Slovenia: 2004

Pathways: transported with tree saplings, secondary spontanuous spreading

Possible to find: May-October

Flight time of adults: May-October

Habitat: Forests, farmland, urban environments where Black locust trees are present.

Status in Slovenia: Widespread everywhere where Black locust trees occur.

Similar species: Several other midge species can not be distinguished with bare eyes, but the shape of the galls is characteristic.
