Habitat: Warm places, mostly on gravelly soil. Also on ruderal sites in urban environments and along streams. Locally invasive along rivers and in the vicinity of inhabited places.
Status in Slovenia: Naturalized in the submediterranean part of Slovenia and locally in the central part of the country. Locally invasive along rivers and in the vicinity of inhabited places.
Similar species: Fig tree, Ficus carica and Mulberies, Morus spp.
