Project LIFE ARTEMIS is for the largest part (60 %) co-financed by the European Union in the framework of the financial mechanism LIFE. In Slovenia, the project is co-financed by the Ministry of the environment and spatial planning, the City of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Research Agency. the remaining part of the project funding is provided by the project partners.
The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with European added value.
Starting in 1992, LIFE has co-financed 4171 projects and contributed approximately 3.4 billion Euro to the protection of the environment.
The LIFE programme is divided over LIFE+ Nature & Biodiversity, LIFE+ Environment, LIFE+ Climate Action and LIFE+ Info & Governance.
The project Awareness Raising, Training and Measures on Invasive alien Species in forests (LIFE ARTEMIS) falls under LIFE + Info & Governance.
